What We Do ↘

YWCA Yakima is dedicated to eradicating domestic violence and assisting all survivors of intimate partner violence who contact us. No one deserves to be abused. All of our domestic violence services are available to men, women, and children regardless of sexual orientation and services are conducted in a safe and confidential environment.

  • Crisis & Mobile Advocacy

    We provide advocacy-based counseling, survivor safety planning, on-site and off-site crisis intervention.

  • Legal Advocacy

    We help domestic violence survivors complete and file restraining and/protection orders; we also provide legal counseling referrals for family issues within our community.

  • Family & Children’s Advocacy

    Families, children & teens receive direct emotional support and community referrals. Children’s support groups and respite care are also available.

YWCA Yakima is the largest provider of domestic violence services in Yakima County, and provides the only shelter in the city of Yakima. In addition, YWCA Yakima offers the first affordable housing specific to families who are homeless as the result of domestic violence.

  • 24-Hour Emergency Shelter

    Our emergency shelter is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • 24/7 Helpline

    Trained advocates are ready to answer the helpline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week: (509) 248-7796, #3.

  • Transitional Housing

    YWCA Yakima operates a transitional housing program. The program takes at least one year to finish.

For those currently experiencing a domestic violence situation, our services and resources are available to you at no cost. We also provide opportunities for community members to get involved through volunteer work, community outreach, and more.

    Help is always available. A trained advocate is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Our helpline is prepared to answer a variety of questions about your options, safety, how to access our safe shelter, our other programs, and community resources. You do not need to be in crisis to call.

    YWCA’s employment training, career navigation, job search support, paid internships, and financial classes help low-wage workers build economic security.

  • Homelessness & Housing

    YWCA’s eviction prevention, rental assistance, affordable housing, and basic needs programs, such as food and hygiene, help low-income households find stability.

  • Safety & Health Access

    YWCA’s emergency shelter for DV survivors, health access programs, and gender-based violence advocacy help protect the well-being of women and families.
