What is one word that describes you perfectly?
Determined.
What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?
My advice to the next generation of female leaders is to make connections, seek mentorships, and always fight to have a seat at the table. Your input matters, your life experience matters, and your ideas matter.
What makes you happy?
I’m happiest when I am surrounded by those I love. One of my favorite things is sharing a home-cooked meal with my family.
How do you measure success?
I measure success by having the ability to help and serve those in my community and being able to be generously share wealth, time and guidance.
What historical event inspires you the most?
The historical event that inspires me most is the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s and 1960s due to the amount of selflessness and courage displayed by movement leaders and participants. They faced intimidation, violence and some even lost their lives in the pursuit of basic human rights. We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us.
What is your favorite quote and why?
My favorite quote is “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept. – Angela Davis” This quote motivates me to take action against acts of injustice and to work towards a more just and equitable world for future generations.
