What is one word that describes you perfectly?
Tender
What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?
Prioritize your worth and your needs. Take care of yourself. Know that the experiences & perspective you bring is unique, valuable, and needed. Don’t sacrifice authenticity to fit into societal norms of what success or professionalism looks like.
What makes you happy?
My humble upbringing, my family-friends & community.
How do you measure success?
I don’t measure success it’s not something I value.
What historical event inspires you the most? Legalization of same-sex marriage. It was the stepping stone towards self-acceptance and self-actualization.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“We are strongest when we see the most vulnerable in our society, bear witness to their struggles, and then work to create systems to make it better.”
-Stacey Abrams
It’s my favorite because it shatters preconceived notions that extending empathy, understanding and compassion is a sign of weakness. As if we were somehow better off without. It offers a profound and innate alternative. There is strength in our ability to extend ourselves and seek connection with the most wounded parts of ourselves in others, authentically. We are stronger when we experience the world from a collective framework and not from my, I, and I hyper-focused lens.
